B. Lynn Beattie Clinical Leadership Award
About
This award is named after Dr. B. Lynn Beattie, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Beattie is a role model for geriatrics faculty, particularly young women. She was the founding head of the Division of Geriatric Medicine at UBC and was co-director of the BC Network for Aging Research. Dr. Beattie is a renowned researcher and academic geriatrician and was recognized for her work in aging and dementia with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.
This award recognizes a Canadian Geriatrics Society (CGS) member who has made a significant and lasting contribution to clinical leadership in geriatrics or the care of older adults. It’s not intended to celebrate “lifetime achievement,” but rather to recognize valuable clinical leaders in Canada who demonstrate leadership and excellence in patient care, clinical administration, education and mentorship.

Criteria and eligibility
The candidate must be (1) a geriatrician or physician providing care to the elderly and (2) a member of the Canadian Geriatrics Society.
Nomination Process
Applicants should submit the following package to cgs@secretariatcentral.com . Receipt of the email will be confirmed.
1) Application form
2) Three letters of support (including one from a patient, caregiver, allied health care provider, or community organization)
3) Candidate’s CV
Note : All documents must be submitted in English, or a translation must be provided.
Recognition of the winner
The award recipient will be announced at the 2025 CGS Annual Scientific Meeting in Toronto, Ontario. The recipient will receive complimentary registration to the 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting.
