  • Attracts students from all health care faculties to seniors’ care by supporting the student National Geriatric Interest Groups (NGIGs)

  • Attracts medical residents to under-served seniors’ care specialties, such as geriatric medicine, care of the elderly and geriatric psychiatry by supporting the Resident Geriatric Interest Groups (RGIGs).

  • Advocates and promotes leading best practices.

  • Reviews and endorses national initiatives (prevention of falls, medication de‑prescribing, etc.)

  • Develops national Special Interest Groups (SIGs) focusing on topics such as falls prevention, continence, nutrition, medication de-prescribing etc.

  • Promotes research and education:

- Popular and exciting Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) that brings clinicians, educators and researchers together from across the country
