Dr. Maureen Mayhew is a family doctor, a public health physician and a certified leadership coach who currently works for BC’s Physician Health Program. For more than 30 years she has provided primary care and led public health programs in Canada, Asia and Africa. In her newly released memoir “Hand on My Heart: A Canadian Doctor’s Awakening in Afghanistan” Dr. Mayhew describes a journey of self-discovery over a decade while helping Afghans rebuild their shattered healthcare system. |
Deprescribing – Innovation and Implementation

Nathalie van der Velde is a consultant and full professor at the Geriatrics Department of the Amsterdam UMC, The Netherlands. Besides, she serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief for Age & Ageing. Nathalie is both nationally and internationally involved in activities to improve falls prevention, with a focus on optimizing deprescribing of fall-risk increasing drugs. As member of the EuGMS SIG Pharmacology and chair of the Task and Finish Group on fall-risk-increasing drugs she has recently co-lead aEuropean survey on deprescribing practices and she is also one of the committee members of the soon to be published STOPP-START version 3. |
